Rental Owners Association of Lane County offers two types of landlord
education programs that are open to both members and non members.
These are: LANDLORD ESSENTIALS
AND PRO SEMINARS.
This series of seminars is offered several times throughout the
year. They are geared for new as well as experienced property
owners who want to refresh their knowledge of landlord-tenant
law. The latest legislative changes in landlord-tenant law are
incorporated into these workshops.
TENANT SCREENING
This is the most critical aspect of your rental business. This
workshop focuses on finding the right tenants and screening them
according to Oregon Landlord Tenant Law, HUD and Fair Housing
regulations.
TENANCY ISSUES
Now that you’re a landlord and have a tenant, what can possibly
go wrong? Lots! And there is probably a law and a form that deals
with it, too. This workshop will use ORHA forms to work through
issues from the moment you sign the rental agreement. Handling
late rent, pets, maintenance, rent increases, roommates, etc.,
are all covered in this lively seminar. You have questions? This
seminar has answers.
TENANCY TERMINATION
What do you do when your tenant doesn’t comply with the
rental agreement, pay the rent on time or take care of the property?
What do you do with a 30-day notice? Terminating a rental agreement
is often stressful. You need to know what to do within the scope
of the law. You’ll learn about warning notices, no-cause
and for-cause notices, deposits, fees, abandoned property, FED’s,
paperwork and more!
PRO Seminars are intensive workshops that cover a wide range
of topics. Each workshop is geared to a specific aspect of property
management such as marketing and Fair Housing. Classes are between
three and six hours in length and are taught by ORHA certified
instructors. Participants in PRO workshops receive certification
from Oregon Rental Housing Association, and the PRO professional
designation is granted upon completion of all required PRO workshops.
